Million Fag March is a Great Success

Today was the day for the Million Fag March here in Topeka, KS and it was a great success! The march was in protest against the hatred spewed by Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church. Thank you to everyone who attended, contributed to the event, or just sent your positive thoughts and support. The last count I heard was over 400 marchers!!!

My own expectations were surpassed and the level of excitement and unity was amazing. I know that I am gushing a bit but I am really happy about the way that the whole thing turned out. Now it’s time to start preparing for next year’s march. lol

The one thing that I did want to say is that while this was an amazing way to show support for equality and to speak out against hatred and bigotry, these are things that need to be done every day not just once a year. My challenge to myself and to our readers is to find ways, every day if possible, to promote that message. Even if it’s something small, do it. Real change happens when we live it.

UPDATE: Million Fag March

It now seems that the plans have been finalized and things are good to go for the Million Fag March. You can find all of the details here. The March is scheduled for Sunday, March 30 at 11:00am. Attendees are to meet up at Gage Park in Topeka, KS.

Please attend if you are able and contribute to the cause if you are not. The Westboro Baptist Church is a vile, hateful, bigotted organization and it is way past time that an event like this took place in their own backyard, so to speak.

Our local paper wrote a pretty good article here about the MFM as well.

Hope to see you all there!

Million Fag March

While Stumbling this evening I came across the web site for the Million Fag March. This is a peaceful assembly of gay and straight people alike, united against the hatred and bigotry of Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church.

The March (MFM) will take place at 11:00AM March 30 at the Westboro Baptist Church. The address is 3701 SW 12th St
Topeka, KS 66604.

William and I are planning on attending and encourage our readers to do the same and to spread the word about this event. We live in Topeka and regularly see the hatred and intolerance spread by the Phelps and the apathy of most of the community to do anything about it. I hope that you can join the assembly on March 30. Put it on your calendars!
