I found this list on BW.org there was no attribution as he found it somewhere else. I thought it was very pertinent to this site and concisely addresses the most common arguments against gay marriage in a very funny way.
- Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.
- Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
- Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
- Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.
- Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.
- Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.
- Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
- Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.
- Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.
- Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.
* Update 10/25/2007 8:00pm ~ William *
We have discovered where this list possibly originated from. At least it is the oldest version so far of the dozens of versions we have found. The list has changed and improved a lot in 3 years. Everyone should go and see the original here. If anyone can validate this as the origin please let us know. Same if you have an earlier version. Thanks to everyone who has commented, keep it up.
You missed the point, this is satirical and mocks your arguments for being against gay marriage. Congratulations, you’ve been had!
Hello Forever,
We are in no way against gay marriage. We posted this because of its satirical nature. We support equal rights for all and gay marriage is something that we champion pretty vocally.
WWJV4? is designed to point out that many of the beliefs that christians are supporting as Jesus’ teachings are nothing more than ignorant hate.
I apologize if we came across in anyway as unsupportive of gay rights because that is certainly not the case.
Thanks for your comment,
Summer
You are AWESOME!
Thank you.
Ummm…I’m pretty sure that forever’s comment might fall under the irony umbrella. Let’s crank up our satire detectors folks.
I knew people had to have more justifications in disliking gays…
#11. Gay marriage is icky and uncomfortable for “decent” people. Therefore it should be outlawed just like porn, scary movies, most TV news coverage, almost every CSI episode and many books.
I am pretty strongly opinionated about a lot of things. I usually wait until I have really had time to consider the points before I establish those opinions. This post just made up my mind on gay marriage. Thanks for the insight.
Right On!!
Though it may satire, the message is clear. The author is trying to convince the large majority that their morals are invalid. The very fact that we have a baseline for what is and what is not moral is clear that we all believe that the mass has the ability to determine right from wrong. If we really do believe that, then there is a standard, and that standard is overwhelming teaches us that we are to love one another, even when we do things that break the standard. Without condemning the person, we should still hold to the moral baseline and if things are wrong, whether or not to the person committing the act or to those around them, then we must call them back to truth; in love. Homosexual realtionships are immoral and unnatural and we all know it.
Since when has the mass had the ability to tell right from wrong? We’re fighting a bullshit war in Iraq because the masses couldn’t tell right from wrong. We sell guns at Wal-mart because the masses can’t tell right from wrong. 75% of America believe in some loony tunes fairytales from 2000 years ago. In case you couldn’t tell, I’m referencing Christianity. It’s the reason people are so scared of gay people in this country. They point to some line in a book and say “being gay is wrong!”. Except it’s fucking genetic. Being gay is not a choice. Nobody would choose to have to live in fear, fear of being ostracized by their family and society. Get a clue buddy.
I spent approximately three years reading research papers and talking with homosexuals, and I have concluded that there are three categories of homosexuals.
First some people are genetically disposed to being gay. The Actual percentage is debatable, but within the animal kingdom 2% are homosexual.
The second type of homosexuals is environmental induced.
And finally, the third category is individuals that simply experiment and/or are open to various sexual activities.
By the way, I never attempt to determine what category someone falls into, nor to I judge their sexuality. However, I am annoyed with the idea of a single cause of homosexual which is political based. I think science should not be influenced by political groups, but it is.
The American Psychological Association states that for most people, “sexual orientation is determined at an early age.” And I don’t know a single gay person (male or female) who is gay “by choice”.
Where is the evidence for your conclusions?
KBall-
You are pointing to the same book and saying “this system of beliefs is wrong!” Not sure I see the difference.
If being gay is 100% genetic, how did homosexuality survive lo these millions of years…considering that although some lived mock hetero lives with beard-wives, homosexuals do not typically or naturally bear offspring? This is sounding combative but I really just want to know your take. Thanks!
~Matt
Meaux: I see what you say there, and want to point out your whole reasoning seems to be that there is a moral standard the broad majority support.
Like the article mentions, broad majority notions change over time. They always have, and they always will. I can point out American independence, abolition of slavery and voting rights for everybody (except convicted felons..) as examples of things that have changed.
These things change for a reason, and that usually is because the society change the way it looks upon what is right, and what is unreasonable.
When you present the only argument for gay marriage that it breaks those morals standards everybody believes in, it seems kind of weak against this obviously satirical list.
Once the american majority happen to see it that way, it most likely will be that that moral standard you speak of will change. Britney ain’t helping your cause, and other changes in the society won’t help either.
I am a happily married gay man. We both have children. They are straight and married with children. They accept our life together. We go to church, do not cheat or play around, pay our taxes, own property, own guns, both of us vote, have pets, and are very respected in our community. Whoever wrote this is as ignorant as the statements made.
I just want to repeat that WWJV4.com completely supports equal rights for all and we are vocal in our support for same-sex marriage. This article is satire and is intended to shed some light on the common arguments Christian conservatives and others use to discriminate against others.
Timothy, you sound like you are living a wonderful life and I am very happy for you.
Thanks again,
Summer
You know the list is satirical, right?
This is a great piece of satire, I’m glad to see other Christians taking a stand for equality.
Gays will never gonna love a woman…
Only a woman can make a man happy…
Gay people are full time depressive. This feeling will let them to earn money as much as they can. (Based on many true stories)
A gay disables millions of love seconds with a woman for life.
Gays are just like atheists…
They darken their life…
Torments will cover their body…
God will punish them…
You come to World, you live a life, and you die…
That’s all people. That’s all. You can laugh and underestimate everything. But you can’t escape from this reality. You’ll die. And God will punish you, me, us we.
A gay is the biggest loser on the earth… For today, for future… Gay for Loser!
Wake up my friend, this is not life you are living, you are dying in the shit.
This comment almost got rejected. However, I allowed it as this is the view of many people, however ignorant and bigoted. WWJV4.com welcomes the view of all of our readers and ask that our commenters refrain from personal attacks or speech that will incite hatred or violence toward another person or group of people.
More than any other comment, it sums up your point.
I think I actually feel sorry for you dondo.
A happy gay atheist winner.
The definition of Marriage for thousands of years, of nearly every society, has always been between a man and a woman. Thus expecting Americans to suddenly accept a new definition is unrealistic. And I think the polls reflect that in relationship to timelines.
What particular bothers me is that some gays use “Hate” and/or “Ignorant” to describe those that don’t agree with their agenda. This tactic actually hurts the gay movement.
By the way, I have not formed an opinion on gay marriage.
I think you have formed an opinion on gay marriage, and you are against it. But your reason doesn’t make sense.
Just because gay people have been oppressed for thousands of years and have been unable to marry legally doesn’t make it right to deny them these basic human rights today, just like thousands of years of slavery and subjugation of women do not make those things acceptable. Stop following the status quo and wake up…there are people in this world different from you, and they deserve the same rights as you.
As I have stated “I have not formed an opinion on gay marriage.”.
Unlike some people, I don’t always have an opinion. Normally I don’t have an opinion whenever I am still in the process of learning about a particular topic, whereas I don’t feel confident in my knowledge.
Your pressure to force me to have an opinion will not work. Nevertheless I appreciate your opinion.
You say you don’t have an opinion when it is clear that you do, because the “facts” you cite are not as clear-cut as you would like them to be. The practice of polygamy endured for thousands of years, as did the practice of having concubines. This is far from the “one man, one woman” tradition you are citing.
People have had to accept new definitions of marriage in recent history: divorce is legal and rampant, and interracial marriages are no longer barred by anti-miscegenation laws. Your statement of “fact” is inaccurate, and by leaving out these points that conflict with your point of view on the topic, you are voicing your OPINION about the definition of marriage–you just don’t seem to realize that you are doing it. The definition has been changing as long as marriage has existed, and it should keep changing. And it will.
I agree with Really? on this. It was only in recent history that women in a heterosexual marriage became more than just property and tools for procreation in the West. There is now the “starter” marriage, common law marriages, and other arrangements that are just part of the evolution of marriage.
Some ancient civilizations such as Sparta, Thera, and Rome had gay marriages that were legally recognized. Many others such as England, had forms of gay marriage that were not legally binding.
Everything evolves with time and it is way past time for all of our citizens to be given equal rights, that includes the right to marry whomever they want.
The definition of marriage has always been between male and female, whether or not a man has multiple wives or vise-versa, or between men and women of various faiths, race or other distinguished attributes. This is not my opinion, but historical fact.
The legal definition of marriage of opposite genders is less restrictive now than in the past, as you denoted. However restrictions still exists, such as between a mother and her son.
Please understand I have NOT formed an opinion on gay marriage. This is primary because I want to understand the impact of children raised by gay couples (adoption is the issue). And by the way, I don’t want to hear anger over this issue. I am sure there are wonderful parents that are gay. But I want to do research on this issue before concluding.
However, I currently think gay couples should have most of the same rights and heterosexual couples enjoy. And perhaps someday gay marriage will be common. I think many straight people are still trying to understand the issues that are related to gay marriage.
Therefore, dialog is important. But attacking me by saying I have an opinion, when clearly I don’t, only causes me concern.
Tom, the word marriage in the United States has always indicated a heterosexual union, however; this is not true for the majority of the world. There have been some version of gay marriages throughout history in Asia, Europe, North America (Native Americans), and Africa.
Here is a Wikipedia article that summarizes some of these although I encourage you to research further.
Maybe you are right.
I actually think Tom is leaning on for gay marriage by what he originally said.
I like the type of person I see from what Tom has written. He probably deep down DOES have his mind made up but it isn’t set in stone…
He is doing what most people SHOULD do… taking time before making their decision final.
Oh well…
I’m personally for gay marriage. I understand why some people aren’t. It is their free will (or predestined nature for those of you who are for predestination) to agree or disagree with something. I also understand that one reason I have heard of has nothing to do with the religious view of it but the TAXing situation of it.
In a heterosexual marriage (now this is what I was told but I am not 100% it is still something to look into.) the woman and man get different tax breaks and such if their significant other dies. (Possibly in other ways but this is the one that was used to make it simple.) With two men together or two women the tax situation would be a little bit different… Now this seems like it has an easy solution but then again… there may be 1,000,000 legal hoops that have to be jumped through to do so.
Gah, well I might check up on this later but I have to go now.
Great site!
I honestly can’t believe you’re writing this rubbish. White people can’t marry black people!? You should really be ashamed of yourself. It’s funny how you ridicule gay persons, when they don’t do anything to you, whereas you are a racist bastard. You should look deep inside your mind and really think. Who is worse, a racist homophobic person such as yourself? or a homosexual. You really contradict yourself; you being such a god-loving christian, would now that the bible clearly states not to hate anyone. Gayness should not affect anyone because it is simply liking someone of the same sex. I honestly can’t believe some the world is still like this. Do you think abusing homosexuals is the answer. Again, I really can’t believe you would say such a thing.
Have a great life, or don’t, it doesn’t bother me.
I would like to reiterate, again, that this list is satirical. WWJV4.com COMPLETELY supports same sex marriages. We believe in equal rights for everyone!
Also, on a personal note, I am not a Christian. This site is meant to examine the hypocrisies of today’s Christianity and we use the name of Jesus for that. The reason is that the biblical Jesus actually taught some really good things like forgiveness, love, and acceptance. The Church has certainly strayed FAR from those teachings.
I apologize if you were offended by this satirical list. Unfortunately these are real arguments, phrased somewhat differently
, but not from us, from the Religious Right, that is where your righteous outrage should be directed. Them and the politicians who continue to use the bigoted views of one ideology to persecute our citizens.
Thanks for reading and I hope this clears things up.
Summer
its very American to be gay, so is not being a Christian.
What a dumb statement: “its very American to be gay”
Your nationality should have no bearing on your sexual orientation, unless your orientation is selective.
Then your second statement “…so is not being a Christian”, shows intolerance.
I think what they were trying to get at is that being “American” does not limit any other part of your identity. A gay atheist is just as “American” as a born again straight person.
Your reply is your assumption … perhaps you are correct or maybe wrong.
Only the person that wrote that offensive statement really knows what they were thinking, or possibly they weren’t thinking.
Depends on where you live
http://reclaimingtheology.blogspot.com/2008/01/5-reasons-why-christian-should-not.html
I’ve read some comments about the definition of marriage but there are many different meanings. Although I am not American, the concept is the same and if you look up marriage in the dictionary there is not one solid answer. Of course one definition is – the state or relationship of being husband and wife, however another definition is – a joining together; a union. And why should should two people who love each other not be allowed such a union and to have legal rights together?
Oh n really love the 10 reasons, very funny.

Way off the mark.

love it!!
Check out Helen Fisher here http://thesciencenetwork.org/the-science-reader/
She has a few comments in passing on brain scans she did on gay subjects in love which, though not a significant sample size, show conclusively that they experience love in the exact same way as straights.
Science, it works bitches.
I suppose this should not be surprising … nevertheless it should Not have any bearing on the Gay Marriage issue (either for or against). For instance, the numerous female teachers found having relationships with under-age male students most likely had the same/similar feelings of love that normal in-love adults couples(MF, MM, FF) have. Thus such under-age relationships in the US are illegal in most states.
Before you get upset, please note my above comment does not support gay marriage or oppose gay marriage. The purpose of my above statement is while the data is interesting it should not be a factor related to gay marriage.
I think you’ve made a colossal straw man argument. The only thing that homosexual marriage and pedophilia have in common is that they are both illegal (note that I’m referring the legal status of gay marriage in most states and am aware that it is not the case in a few states).
Sighting that the brain chemistry of homosexuals and heterosexuals in love is the exact same goes to the heart of several arguments surrounding gay marriage; its strong evidence that homosexuality is not a choice as many in the religious communities allege, it supports the idea that homosexuality is just as natural as heterosexuality (though less common) and most importantly it underscores the humanity of homosexuals. This is, after all, something of a human rights issue, is it not?
Conversely the emotions being experienced by a pedophile for the person or persons whom they are committing statutory upon has never been the underlying reason for pedophilia’s illegality. It’s illegal do to the concern for the welfare of the child. Particularly it’s the long term welfare of the child which is the chief concern.
I’m perfectly willing to assume you haven’t reached a conclusion about whether or not gay marriage should be legal or illegal. Your choice of comparing it to statutory rape however calls into question your neutrality on homosexuality itself and indicates you hold a belief that it is as immoral as child molesting. I’d like to give you the opportunity to set the record straight that you do not consider homosexuality to be remotely like child molestation and, nearly two months since your last comment to expound on your own opinions (which I assume by now you’ve formed).
“Sighting that the brain chemistry of homosexuals and heterosexuals in love is the exact same goes to the heart of several arguments surrounding gay marriage; its strong evidence that homosexuality is not a choice …”
In reference to your statement above, you must be assuming that 100% of all homosexuals have the same biological evidence, which according the study was far less that 100% (the exact percent I currently don’t recall). Approx. 10 years ago, I had done research on the various causes of homosexuality via private medical/scientific (non-agenda) sites, and what I discovered there are at least three possibilities.
I don’t find it my place to determine someone’s origin for their sexuality, nor should I judge. The reason for the research was primary that I thought it was an interesting topic. However, I become annoyed with the press and some people thinking there is only one cause for homosexuality and attempt to transform it into something completely false for their own agenda or for political correctness. Science goals should be a search for total truth without regards to religion, politics, or social influences.
That said, scientific data should have no weight on determining if gay marriage should be legal, this a legal, social, for some a religion issue.
If any one here would like to hear the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints’ stance on same-gender attraction, here is a great link straight from the source. It provides very sound, rational arguments about the subject.
http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/public-issues/same-gender-attraction
LDS is hardly a reliable, rational, logical or moral source to cite. Mormon religion, like every other European-in-origin religion, is deluded by its own sense of self-importance and bizarre & twisted desire to control everyone else’s reality.
All y’all are very, very sad because of this sick obsession with power & control. It is why white culture and those who have internalized it are so messed up and why you are able to go around blinded to your own perversions and able to call these perversions “normal” while casting aspersions on well-adjusted, grounded, respectful and spiritual people in the world who strive to create harmony, not a poisonous environment where there is only one way to think/feel/believe/exist.
It is more logical, rational, reliable, grounded, moral to call religion a mental illness than it is to call homosexuality a mental illness…I don’t see gays killing straights for not being gay while citing an invisible, unprovable, superstition.
First a straw man, then dodging a direct question and redirecting the focus of the conversation… You don’t by chance have a legal background, do you?
Joking aside I still would like to know why of all the possible comparisons to draw between gay marriage and other illegal acts you chose child molestation. I think this is very important.
I’d be glad to read any study you like but I’m afraid I’m going to need you to site a reference or at the very least articulate the three causes of homosexuality so I can research them and weigh their credibility accordingly. My cursory attempts to look into this today resulted in the majority of peer reviewed science indicating genetic causes with a smaller (seemingly conclusive but somewhat early) finding that male homosexuality can be caused by an allergic reaction of the pregnant mother to certain hormones during the child’s development. The rest of the pages upon pages that came up were very obviously of a religious slant, contained no data, and nothing but the most oblique references to any research.
Almost as troubling as your previous post comparing homosexuality to statutory rape is your statement that science has no place in this discourse. Without social scientists, neuroscientists, child psychologists; without data, research, evidence; without systematically examining what if any affects homosexual marriages have on the world around us we would have no way of determining which arguments (pro or con) are operating under false premises. It is, after all, entirely possible to be logical and honest and wrong all at the same time.
I also am very curious about one thing- what’s keeping you on the fence? It’s fairly clear which camp everyone else is in, so as our only devote neutral what do you see as the biggest pro and the biggest con to gay marriage?
It is certainly clear that you lack common decency to engage in a conversation without insulting an individual that may not agree with you. In addition, your distortion of “statutory rape” was taken out of context to a response to a previous post.
If you have read my previous post, you should understand why I have not made a decision on gay marriage.
It appears your goal is to fight. My goal is to gain a better understanding. As such our goals are in conflict. Therefore, I am not going to respond to any more of your posts.
This was really funny! They have the right to be miserable like the rest of hetero-married couples lol
um, eyeglasses and polyester arent ‘unnatural’. you are confusing ‘artificial’ with ‘unnatural’; they are two completely different things. look up ‘unnatural’ in any dictionary (try dictionary.com). you have your own webpage about gay marriage and yet you are so completely clueless as to the basics of your opponents arguments. typical of liberals i guess. wow
this blog is supposed to highlight the infringement of religion into today’s government? yeah, buddy, ever heard of the separation of church and state?
Sure have and it is under constant assault; thus the need to highlight the infringement of religion into government. I really don’t understand what point you’re making with your comment….
I believe gays should have the right to marry.
Love is love, and there isn’t nearly enough of it in the world.
Thanks for the blog, I am writing in some blogs myself and I know it is also nice to get some positive feedback for what I write

Barack Obama is wrong on a lot of issues, but he is 100% correct when it comed to this one; As a religious institution, marriage should be left as is, and not tampered with or re-defined by government. However, homosexuals deserve to have the same rights and tax advantages as married couples do.
Being snarky, and setting up straw-man arguments about what is or isn’t “American” only makes us look bad. I wish the author of this blog had more tact and class.
In regards to the person who claims that homosexuality is genetic, you obviously havn’t had any anatomy & physiology courses, or flat out common sense as far as I am concerned. Don’t get me wrong, I support gay marriage because the facts are evident. Religion should play no part in conditioning gay marriage. This country was founded upon freedom from religious reign. However, to say that people are born gay makes no sense at all. A child is born with ZERO sexual orientation. I mean, if you can remember having sexuality as a newborn, please enlighten me. While it is true that everyone has different levels of hormones, you still cannot claim that a person is born gay, or straight for that matter. Please think before you speak.
Great work with this one, nicelly done!
i am gay and i am married and if anyone has a problem with it then you can kiss my as* for real i know everyone has their own opinion but if you are a homophobe you should just keep you damn mouth shut… i am gay and i am damn proud
this list is a bunch of bull shit. its just something that someone made up cause they are bored. gays should have thye right to marry becasue the united states is a FREE country.
kball:
Except it’s fucking genetic. Being gay is not a choice. Nobody would choose to have to live in fear, fear of being ostracized by their family and society. Get a clue buddy.
In refererence to your ignorant comment, SCIENCE HAS STILL NOT FOUND ONE GAY GENE. Sleeping with the same sex is not hard-wired into you–It’s a choice. Can a bankrobber say,”Oh, I was born this way?” No, it’s clearly *NOT GENETIC* Since when is it normal for a man to have sex with a man a produce a child, or two women naturally having a child. That must tell you by nature, evolution, or God or whatever means it took place it just wasn’t the natural act to have children
Lovely, informative site, thanks
Favourited, fool!
Am I the only one who doesn’t give a blind fuck whether or not being gay is innate? Alls I is knowing is that they’re gay and they really mean it. Or maybe it is an act and they enjoy being treated like shit be overreligious pricks, I dunno.
And, speaking as a black guy, why is it that blacks seem to not consider religion so much when it comes to abortion, but when they gin up their religiosity when it comes to gay marriage. Funny that, and disappointing. I wish blacks would do better, instead about complaining about their own misfortunes while discriminating others.
Of course, I’ve always maintained that those same people who use religion as an excuse to ban gay marriage really do so for extra-religious reasons. I mean, what about all the good faithfuls who support gay marriage. Are they bad Christians?
To be against gay marriage doesn’t mean you hate. If the other side believes and assumes that then whatever you say they won’t listen. This is why the debate always turns ugly. It is because one side assumes the other side are haters. Liberals tend to assume bad motivations to those who disagree with them.
religion makes me feel like shit. Im happy to not participate in it or think about it. The bible makes god look like a vindictive poop. And I think that some random guy wrote it thinkning it would make a nice story, then some where along the line someone decided to worship it. Im not saying their is no god! why cant their be? I mean as far fetched as it sounds, people want thier to be a god. A lot of people NEED a god. They need to belive that they are not alone and that when they die thats not the end of it. That when they die, their trivial lifes wont just end…SO sure, their can be a god. I dont really have a problem with that. What I have a problem with is the way people go about worshiping thier god. By following this bible thing that says being gay is wrong! and that slavery is all right. Christians always say that they love and accept everyone. But they really REALLY dont. it just seems a little hypocritical to me AND it makes them seem just a little, arrogant. Gay marriage should not be illegal for this simple reason, why deny any human person thier rights because of an aspect in thier life that they cant control?! You cant control who you fall in love with. oh hey heres a little example I just thought of…yeah remember that time not to long ago when black people didnt have any rights because of their skin color? and skin color is an aspect in your life that you cannot control? isnt that a little like not giveing homosexuals thier rights because of something they cant control? WEll im done with my little rant. Sorry if parts in it didnt make scence or if my spelling and or grammer was bad. feel free to rip apart my argument. I would love to have someone argue with me. And im not just being a smartass. I really do want to hear another persons opinion.
GOD MADE YOU THE WAY YOU ARE FOR A REASON GOD LOVES YOU NO MATTER WHAT YOUR SEXUAL CHOICE SO ALL YOU BIBLE HUGGERS WHO ARE AGINST GAY PEOPLE , GAY MARRIAGE, AND GAY RIGHTS CAN PISS OFF! GAY ALL THE WAY!
this is sick! women are NOT proporty and gays are people too! And there is such thing as the gay gene, Homosexuality IS natural!!!!!
Don’t listen to all the idiots with the bibles stuck up their asses, this article is hilarious and I love you so much right now.
When it comes down to it, not giving gay people the right to marry obstructs both liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The way i see it, obstructing gay marriage goes against 2/3 of the most important parts of the constitution. The constitution of america’s legal system should stem from the American Constitution. Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness.
This comment is mostly targeted to Tello. Hopefully you read it. I, 100% agree with you and everything you wrote in your comment. I do believe there is a God and i guess it may be a bit hypocritical in the eyes of others, but i do believe that many people just have the NEED to have a god. Its been going on since the early romans and before christianity even came along. The Greeks with their gods and even indians and their different beliefs. As far as gay marriage? my brother is gay and i am proud of him. Would i like to see him get married with his boyfriend he’s been with for 4 years? Hell yea! i would love to. Gays are just like everbody else. They love, the feel, and they need. The comparison of blacks and being judged for their sking color being something they cant control… LOVES IT! couldnt have said it better. Im glad there are still some people who actually have some morals and get out of their little selfish bubble ones in a while.
Maybe we should figure out what we’re arguing about before we argue. Are we arguing about the ethics of homosexuality, or the nature of marriage, or civil rights? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion regarding what they think is morally correct or not; but whether something is LEGAL is another matter. You may disagree with gay marriage, but they still have the right to marry because your OPINION has nothing to do with a person’s constitutional rights (except that you have the right to have that opinion). And we OUGHT to separate church and state. The constitution only cares about marriage as a legal matter. It has no business discriminating people based on religious belief.
are you people retarted? All you gays out there hating on this article, just calm down a second and ACTUALLY read it. The author employs a method of writing known as SARCASM. He/she is just making fun of common prejudices out there and addressing them in a very witty manner. So…yeah. Just calm down and have a good laugh out of it. youll be happier that way.
first i like to say that respect your opinion because it is yours and it is what you believe. but i’m going to have to disagree with your logic. let me point out that im not a Christian i’m a pagan. and i believe that love is something that god or the gods gives us to use under our free will of which also he, she, they, or it gave us. i also believe VERY highly in the separation of church and state because this country im sure that u and i love very much is a melting pot of different religions and cultures. for our country to equally represent all its citizens religion can not be a reason to outlaw a law because what might be true for one religion is true for another. please do me the favor of think about that when you write and vote. thanks your friend heather.

I think i proved my point, you are all stupid adults thinking just of yourselves, you need a reality check, if you’d like to argue any farther email me at michaelacallaway@yahoo.com
This is BY FAR the most ridiculous and absurd “list” I have ever read in my life. News flash, blacks and whites are married, divorce IS legal, women are NOT property, almost everyone wears eyeglasses, straight couples DO produce gay children because gay couples can’t have kids, don’t try to base it on religion because theres a thing called the constitution that says “freedom of religion” if you’re too stupid to understand that, it means people don’t have to be christian, people don’t have to abide by the “rules” of the bible and I’m sure you don’t either. “Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home” wowww, that’s so ridiculous because I know plenty of successful people all over the world who were raised by just one parent. Wow, I’m pretty sure my IQ went down a little bit by reading this STUPID b.s.
HAHAHAHA.
YOU GUYS!
This list is one hundred percent sarcastic.
“… in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.”
It’s making the point that all the arguments against gay rights are ridiculous.
For those of you going on rants trying to prove this list wrong, YOU ARE IDIOTS. IT IS IRONY! The author is pro-gay rights/marriage and made this list to mock the arguments against gay rights!
You guys undermine the intelligence of all pro-rights supporters by taking this list seriously when it is made sarcastically to point out the irony and hypocrisy of all anti-gay rights people. Goodness.
This, I can only imagine, is a joke. The author is clearly in favor of gays. His arguments are meant to be ironic. Either that or he’s just dumb.
stupid. you people need some serious help. you dont realize how much youre disrespecting jesus right now.
uhh haley.. you do realize that this list was sarcastic and supports gay marriage..
haley i hope you relise that this hole list was sarcastic hahaha so yes your IQ did go down
Oh my god! This is really starting to piss me off. I’m a very strong 14yr old biracial and bisexual Christian and I am fuckin sick of you stupid ass peoples comments on here. You know what bugs me? How gay people are always the first ones to cry about being stereotyped and the first to stereotype Christians as homeophobic republicains! Not everyones that way. People take a snapshot of Christians agaisnt gays and make it every Christian. Just like people take a snapshot of jeffee star and say oh that must be what all gays are like! Come on people really?! Like I said I’m comletly for gay marriage and I’m bi myself but really people?!
i dont know what this is but its completly showing sarcasm not only towards my views. but also towards my pride in my nation. marriage is a sacride thing that should not be altered. why is it so hard to be against gays, if your for it no one cares, but once you go against the grain everyone files law suits. you people in this world need to understand that we were not made to have ot our way.
Contrary to popular belief, gay marriage IS legal in the United States. Find a priest or priestess who will marry you, and you’re golden.
What IS illegal is getting the legal document — which is ridiculous, because it doesn’t do anything but make the lives of homosexuals more difficult. What does that accomplish besides cultivating a toxic environment where we create second-class citizens?
My solution is this: Eliminate the word “marriage” from the law, is there is supposed to be SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. Anyone who wants a civil union can get one, but there is no more “marriage” legally. It’s a religious thing, and you get it in a church. ’nuff said.
It seems so simple, and it’s a compromise that most people I’ve pitched it to seem to respect.
None of these make sense… so are you all saying that same sex marriage is okay? Because you are acting homophobic, but this list is extremely sarcastic
How is gay marriage defiling marriage? and if it’s that sacred, why can’t you spell it?
Umm…For those people who are taking this WAY too seriously, chill out. This was meant to be FUNNY!!!! I thought it was hilarious.
… This better be satire, because if it is, then you are a TERRIBLE Christian.
YOU ARE ALL CRAZY PYCHO’S BECAUSE GAY MARRIGE IS FINE!!!!!!!!!
I honestly do not understand why people are so against gay marriage. Im sorry, but i thought we were all human. Yes, humans have opinions and seems to hate a lot of things, but that’s how we created it. we made it so everyone is judgemental. its ridiculous. None of these opposing comments will stop people from loving who they want to love. Just have to deal. you dont like it, ignore it. its not that hard.
Most of this is completely untrue.
I’m American and I don’t reject air conditioning or eye wear. Blacks CAN marry whites. Gay parents don’t always raise gay children. Straight parents don’t always raise straight children. There are LOTS of religions in America. I’m Jewish. I have Jewish, Mormon, Christian, Catholic, Hindu, and many more friends. We obviously don’t all believe the same things. In #9. why do you say that? I know of many cases where children raised in a gay home are very successful.
You’re making up stupid excuses that don’t even make sense. What would Jesus do? He would accept everyone in this world.
We were all given choices when we were born. We choose who we marry, even if they aren’t our destiny or fate.
“All men are created equal”, no matter who they love or marry.
http://www.carbonated.tv/wow/a-childs-reaction-to-gay-couple
Watch this. It’s about a little boy that meets a gay couple for the first time. Notice how he has better things to do (ping pong) than worry about who someone loves.
It’s gotta be really embarrassing to you that a little kid can accept something so simple, but you can’t.
This seem legit *pokerface*
You are a dumb ass!! gay marriage should be legal and manny studdies have provin that childern would be no different with man, woman or man and man or woman and woman! they are not mentaly different than any other child who grows up with a man and woman!
