This goes to show how ignorant R. Paul's supporters are, and what a fraud he truly is. You make a point of telling us you're not a republican as if it's something to be proud of. Well, it is. But, uh....Maybe I've been in the dark, but Isn't Paul a Republican Rep. from Texas? If you want to argue all that Libertarian crap then why doesn't your candidate run under the banner of that Party? Btw, before you blow a gasket, remember ignorant only means lacking knowledge, I'm not attacking your intelligence. If you have ever wondered why Paul wants to return to the gold standard, which he's yet to detail how in the hell that would work at this late date, just look up how much gold this man is in possession of.

It's unusual for me to agree with a stranger on several points, but I did with you. On that last and laughable hypothetical situation, I can see how many republicans have been conned into believing torture works. I have first hand knowledge from several friends who who work for or are retied from a certain international law enforcement department. It's not important which one I'm alluding to, but I do know from their experiences and documents I've seen that unequivocally prove torture DOES NOT WORK. All had intense training , and much experience in interrogation with a great variety of people from many countries and the different crimes they were involved with. This may sound too easy, but time after time the facts show, as do the experiments in the world of psychology, that treating the subject with respect, kindness, and the offering of simple niceties like anything from cigarettes to cookies and milk, I kid you not, plus appealing to their better side will get you farther and faster than psychological and least of all physical torture. Did anyone see the masterful and great American, F.B.I. Special Agent George Piro, interview Saddam Hussein? Granted he was firm, and denied many of Hussein's request for other niceties, but he was also psychologically slick. Without going into great detail, he's the one who finally got Hussein to admit he had obeyed American orders to destroy all WMD's. Many who are ignorant of their culture along with his massive ego think,"so what. Maybe he was lying." But they don't realize what an admission of weakness that was by a man who wasn't at all in the practice of showing any weakness or cowardice. Just imagine oneself. If I was physically tortured I'd think this is going to last whether I'm truthful or lying. If they treated me like a dog, I'd never tell them the truth. I have no fear of death, and I'm sure many others don't, so what's the point of helping a country that's going to kill me or imprison me for life? I wish I could be more articulate or elaborate, but all I've written is the truth. Thanks.

The self - inflated assumption that so many people have about their knowledge of the Constitution is astounding. Firstly, if Paul is against Church, State Separation, that's unconstitutional, and the reason Europeans began to to leave England. They were sick of the theocratic U.K. and the state run Catholic Church. They wanted freedom of religion, or freedom from religion, but the phrase 'freedom for religion' is not only a myth, but ludicrous. In the words of the father of our country, George Washington, "The United States of America should have a foundation free from the influence of clergy." Washington also never mentioned Christ once in his writings and requested a religious free funeral, and thus was given a Freemason funeral. If anyone is as curious as I about Paul's idea of going back to the gold and silver standard, which he has yet to explain how that could possibly work in a world that has long ago abandoned it, will be enlightened by this insane idea when one discovers how much gold this man is in possession of. LOL. This man has so much gold that he'd be like a trillionaire along with a few other gold hoarders compared to the billions who would be penniless in this despotic like world. The Founding Fathers were so much more discerning than the great majority of American will ever imagine. By implementing Separation of Church and State they were assuring that both would last forever. It prohibits the government of ever becoming a theocratic despotism, and it assures that freedom of religion will also last indefinitely. Consider the fact that in 25 years France will become a majority Muslim nation if the present birth rate continues and and even if immigration were to end tomorrow. Is that what we want? They were also clever enough to create a clause know as 'protection from the tyranny of the majority.' That means if the last sane Constitutionalist were being overrun by by the overwhelming majority who has some totalitarian philosophies, the correct and moral minority has as much power. Btw, if you're against OSHA and other labor union ideas, talk to some of the very few survivors of the days with no unions about what kind of rights they had, and the dangerous conditions they worked in. The Triangle Waist Shirt factory in New York is a perfect example of what happens to laborers whose pleas for safer conditions among many other rights we now take for granted went unanswered and unfulfilled. 111 dead and many injured, most of whom were young ladies; mothers, daughters, and often the only source of income for their families died a tortuous death because their cheap, arrogant, compassionless owners, who of course survived and were never convicted of any crime. This is just two examples of how big a self - consumed fraud Ron Paul truly is. One more thing: the laughable myth that republicans mean small government, lower taxes and low spending. Their Republican Savior, Ronald Reagan, Increased the size of government, increased taxes on the rich 11 times, and most of all brought us that worldwide economic $30 trillion meltdown in 2008 through deregulation implemented by him and his hiring of flunkie former businessmen like Don Regan in 1981 to run the economy. Why is the last GOP president to leave office with a surplus economy Eisenhower, who was a Democrat that switched because of his dislike of Truman? Why? Because he was livid when he heard Truman had used the A-Bomb on Japan. He was terribly upset that the cat was out of the bag, besides the fact we could have continued to conventionally, and or firebomb Japan for months without a land invasion, considering they had no air force, no navy, and even if they had a million man army, they were broke and no military materiel left.

Thanks for your concern Stephen; however, I will not be changing my views on Ron Paul. I have thoroughly looked at what he stands for, not just what he says, but also what he has voted for.
Standing for individual rights means acknowledging that we have a burden to ensure the rights of the minorities are not trampled by the majority. That is something Ron Paul does not support doing. Writing something off as "states rights" is often just a convenient way to allow discrimination to continue while not having to be on record as actually encouraging it.

Chris, I will have to look at the YouTube video I haven't seen it.

Thanks for reading!

[...] Whereas a candidate like Romney struggles to prove his conservativeness to a skeptical electorate, Paul has a somewhat opposite problem. On the one hand, Romney must explain his relatively moderate time as a governor of a blue state to a Republican electorate clamoring for a conservative champion. On the other, Paul’s staunchly libertarian message may be appealing to blue state conservatives who lean right for economic reasons. Ron Pau’s stances on social issues such as abortion, guns and gay marriage may not be as palatable to them. [...]

Glad to see this blog is back!! In response to the comments just posted asking you to reconsider Ron Paul: I'm sure Paul is for the "individual rights and liberty" of some people; the problem is that he supports policies AGAINST the rights and liberty of many others (including the half of humanity that I belong to). By the way, I found your blog when searching for a sane analysis of the claims he makes in a recent, slick but (I think) simplistic YouTube video entitled "The Million Dollar Penny" -- accusing the Federal Reserve of conspiring to steal from taxpayers. Who might shed some light there?

Hello, I'm writing a short message to you in regards to the post you made about the 10 reasons not to vote for Ron Paul.

http://wwjv4.com/republicans/10-reasons-not-to-vote-for-ron-paul-159#respond

I can't respond to that so I decided I'd send you a comment here. All I'd like to say is please reconsider your views on Ron Paul. I've read everything that you've said, and I respect your beliefs. However, I STRONGLY urge you to please set aside a couple of differences and really take a look at what he stands for. Individual rights, liberty, prosperity, Deep budget cuts without affecting Americans, bringing the troops home, etc. America has been held down, deceived and cheated by the expansion of power of the government, and is going in the same direction for far too long, and yet we still haven't recovered.

Blessings,
Stephen
