standardClinton Won’t Cross Picket Line

According to The Huffington Post Senator Clinton has stated that she will not cross the picket lines to take part in the upcoming CBS Debate if their employees go on strike. While several other Democrats have spoken in support of the strike by The Writers Guild of America, this is the strongest stand yet. As the front running candidate, her action is very likely to force others to adopt similar positions.

“The workers at CBS News have been without a contract for close to two and a half years,” the Senator said. “It is my hope that both sides will reach an agreement that results in a secure contract for the workers at CBS News but let me be clear: I will honor the picket line if the workers at CBS News decide to strike.”

Senator Clinton has a long history of supporting the working class and unions so this hard stand is not a surprise for those who support her. I have been pushing for Clinton since the beginning and its nice to have something over on Kucinich for once. Maybe this will stop Summer from gloating for a day or two. In any event it is good to see Senator Clinton taking the lead on important issues.

* UPDATE 11/21/2007 @ 13:10 *
Via TPM Election Central: Edwards has added his name to the list of Democrats who will not cross a picket line to attend the upcoming debate. Anyone else going to follow Clinton’s lead?

standardThe Myth of Unelectability

Dennis Kucinich is unelectable, three weeks ago that was my opinion. I agreed with his politics on every major issue, I found him to be sincere and honest, someone who really stood up for what he believed in. But, I was sucked in to the myth of unelectability. I saw his slight stature, although not [...]

standardDems Show Hidden Costs Double Iraq Pricetag

According to this story on the Carpetbagger Report and backed up by BBC News the cost of the Iraq War may be almost double the official estimate! That takes the cost up to somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.5 Trillion dollars. Remember that billions of the “official” estimate are missing so we have to assume [...]

standardObama Missing Most of Votes

Barack Obama has taken a page from John McCain’s campaign playbook. That is never a good idea but when that page is how to miss the most votes it’s a surefire recipe for failure. Since returning from the summer break in September, Obama has missed nearly 80% of the votes, instead spending his time campaigning. [...]

standardObama Introduces Resolution Denying Bush

As the conservative talk “news” beats the drums for war with Iran and Bush ratchets up the war propaganda Senator Barack Obama is prepared to stand in their way. Late yesterday Obama introduced a resolution that denies Bush the authorization needed to use military force on Iran. Obama has been very clear in his stand [...]

standardDodd’s FISA Fillubuster Gaining Supporters

Like a true leader Chris Dodd is gathering supporters for his courageous stand for civil liberties. As we reported on 2 days ago Chris Dodd is fighting to prevent passage of a deeply flawed FISA bill which includes, among other things, retroactive immunity for telecoms who broke the law when assisting the governments domestic spying [...]

standardDodd Keeps Trying to Get My Vote

I have been a strong supporter for Clinton for quite a while. I feel that after 8 years of far right extremism the best thing to unite the country is a moderate President. Hillary offers a moderate position, something that I feel will help heal the rift that Bush has created in this country while [...]

standardI Want to Support Kucinich

I want to support Kucinich I really really do. I agree with him on every single issue. I think he is the one candidate on either side that is truly interested in making life for the average American better. He supports labor unions, he supports not for profit universal health care, he wants the Iraq [...]

standardFeeling Betrayed

Early on in the race for 2008, I had decided that among all of the Democratic candidates, Hillary Clinton was mine. She is an eloquent speaker, she has amazing composure, her stances on the issues that matter to me are right on target, she devoted a large portion of her life to helping children and [...]
