By what measure would you claim that the surge is a success? The reason for the surge according to our commander in chief was to give the Iraqi government a chance to get their shit together. They haven't done that therefore the surge cannot be a success.

The peace you so proudly claim credit for is more the result of local politics and American bribes as anything the surge could have done. This peace will last only as long as the many tribes and militias in Iraq want it to. But you still buy the lies about Al Qaeda and WMDs in Iraq so I wont waste my time talking to you.

I see the war on terror, including the Iraqi front, as necessary to put radical millitant islamist on the run. If we didn't go on the offensive in these terrorist, supporting nations, they would become stronger and more united. They would more quickly develop weapons of mass destruction that could be smuggled in the U.S. By building a free and safer Iraq, we are in effect putting pressure on neighboring countries to put away radical islam and pursue freedom. I think we are winning, the surge has worked. The liberals first complained about security in Iraq and when they saw the surge producing results, they changed their complaint to there is no government unity. So I find that a little dishonest. Since it seems they are making excuses. They really don't want us to win. And by losing they were hoping to make political gain with congressional seats and the presidency. That is how I read the politics of it.
